Managing Your Professional Reputation: Best Practices for Social Media

Today, social media has become the main showcase for many groomers. It’s where you display your best work, interact with clients, and sometimes share glimpses of your daily life.

But this visibility is a double-edged sword: it can attract… or drive people away.

Because every post, every comment, every story contributes to shaping your reputation.

And online, reputations are built quickly—and destroyed even faster.


Being visible isn’t enough: you must be consistent

Having an active professional account is great—but it’s not enough.

Consistency between what you show, what you say, and how you interact is essential. A recognized professional is someone who:

  • remains polite, even under pressure,

  • communicates clearly and calmly,

  • responds to criticism without losing their temper,

  • stands by their positions with respect,

  • and knows how to say “no” without humiliating others.

If you value animal well-being, gentleness, and respect… your content should show it.

  • Calm dogs, not terrified ones.

  • Gentle hands, not rough gestures.

  • Kind words, not judgment.

  • Humor, yes—but never at the expense of a client or an animal.

Your social media is often the first contact with a future client or partner. Better that it inspires trust… than raises doubt.


Respond intelligently to criticism

A hurtful comment, a negative review, an unfair remark—it stings. But what people will remember is not the criticism itself: it’s your response.

Always reply:

  • calmly,

  • without aggression,

  • with facts,

  • without humiliation.

Never engage in a public argument. If necessary, suggest continuing the discussion privately.
